The influence of the fog continues to cause the fire to lay down at night. Interior burning North towards East Camino Cielo will continue. Fire is in the West Cold Springs Creek but fire has slowed its progression due to the marine influence.

Strong downslope winds that pushed the fire to the East are predicted to continue this evening.

Reported 14,000 people evacuated, “dozens” of homes burned.

Mandatory evacuation orders cover areas to the east of Morada Lane and Ontare Road, from Foothill to San Roque roads, down to Alamar Roads, along State Street to Constance Avenue, along Garden Street to Micheltorena and up to Alameda Padre Serra, continuing to Sycamore Canyon Road to Foothill Road, tying in to El Cielito Road and up to East Camino Cielo.

Warning areas include areas east of La Cumbre Road to State Street, north of De la Vina to Anapamu streets, up to Anacapa and south to De La Guerra streets, north to Milpas Street, down to Montecito Street and up to Alameda Padre Serra

Residents in the mandatory evacuation area who are physically unable to evacuate on their own, should call the Jesusita Fire Call Center at 681-5197. Please do not call 911 as the system is overloaded.

Ten helicopters are on the scene, with 12 more on order. In addition, 12 airtankers are expected to be making drops while conditions permit.

Five Ventura County Firefighters were injured when their engine was over-run atop Spyglass Hill melting the plastic on interior of engine, burning all 5 firefighters on board. All were sent to Cottage Hospital initially then three firefighters were airlifted to the Grossman Burn Center with 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns but none of them are considered critical.

Red flag warning in effect until 10 am Friday for the Santa Ynez range and Santa Barbara south coast due to gusty northerly winds and low humidity. Temps in the 90’s.
