Eco-Terrorism: No Such Thing

Property-rights extremists equate McMansions to 9/11 victims

BY TED RALL, a proud New Yorker who had to laugh

NEW YORK—The United States should not build housing. Whole neighborhoods in places like Chicago and Dayton and Oakland and Newark and Memphis are dominated by abandoned houses and apartment buildings. Ten percent of our national housing stock—more than 13 million homes, enough to put roofs over the homeless three times over—are vacant year-round. So why do we let developers bulldoze fields and forests to put up soulless monstrosities?

Several “model houses” at a development bearing the typically atrocious name of “Quinn’s Crossing at Yarrowbay Communities” at the edge of Seattle’s creeping suburban sprawl went up in flames, apparently torched by radical environmentalists. I had two reactions. First, I was reminded of my wonder that such things happen so infrequently.

Then I laughed. I wasn’t alone. Time magazine bemoaned “a notable lack of sympathy for the fate of the homes” among residents of Washington state.

Quinn’s Crossing, says its Web site, was “dedicated to the ethos of putting the earth first.” In this case, putting Mother Earth “first” led the developers in “energy efficient” 4,500-square-feet McMansions. “The houses are out in the middle of nowhere, on land that used to be occupied by beaver dams and environmentally sensitive wetlands; the site sits at the headwaters of Bear Creek, where endangered chinook salmon spawn,” reported Erica C. Barnett for the Seattle weekly newspaper The Stranger. … [more]

The ravings of an NYC tenement dweller. Plague rat. Stalinist. Cockroach foot soldier for the Beast.

I had two reactions. First I was reminded of the utter putrid slime pit that is NYC. Then I had to weep.

It doesn’t matter whether they are called terrorists, or arsonists, or arsonist-terrorists. Whatever, those who heave jugs of gasoline into homes and schools should be burned at the stake in the public square.

Typical spew from a Marxist.

Always the class warfare (or envy) thing.

Hey Teddy, how would you like it if I told you where and what size hovel you are assigned to? 752 square feet? Sorry, you are 2 square feet over. I’ll be bringing the pitch forks and and torches shortly.

And get your facts straight. While these homes may be 4 times larger than your average AMERICAN home, they consume 4 times LESS energy than your piss and squat stacked shack in NYC.

Freaking ‘tard. (No offense to the real mentally disabled)

Could it be that the 911 Islamo-fascist airline hijackers were doing us all a favor when they pinpointed NYC for demolition? Maybe we should let NYC and Baghdad (or Tehran, Riyadh, Islamabad, etc.) fight it out between themselves, and leave the rest of us out of it.

Okay. I have had to delete some profane and possible actionable comments. The point of all of them is that Ted Rall is very wrong. Politically motivated arson is terrorism.

The Ted Rall’s of this world have excuses. The target house was too big, the target school was not PC, the target business was making a profit, etc. Not only are such excuses unsympathetic, they encourage more terrorism and destruction with their sick justifications.

There is no end to this. The war must escalate until one side or the other is defeated. Ted Rall and his ilk will be shot on site, if he shows up on site with jugs of gasoline. We the residents of the West have no other choice. We cannot, will not surrender to terror. Whether Ted and Erica understand this or not.

This statement is not a threat, not a warning, just a logical conclusion. Free people will not acquiesce meekly to becoming slaves or victims to terror. Mothers, don’t let your children grow up to be terrorists. Not unless you wish weep over their graves.
