River Rd remains closed to public due to fire activity. Efforts currently underway to re-open Fall River Cassel Rd. Interior firing operations successful. Coordinated aerial and ground based gel plant operation took place on both Chalk and Goose Branches helping to hold existing containment lines. Fireline suppression repair efforts began on Cassel and Burney LCA fires. Cultural resource assessments continue on all branches.

Complex consists of several fires. All have been contained except for the following: Cassel - 5,000 acres (80% containment), Goose - 6,000 acres (55% containment), Chalk -3,150 acres (60% containment).

Predicted fire weather returned over incident today bringing hotter temps, lower humidities and gusty SE winds. These winds challenged containment efforts on the west side of the Chalk Fire. The Chalk continued to roll out into Blackberry Creek and make upslope runs. Aerial firing operations on the Goose Branch were successful and built successful depth into the hand firing operations. These efforts should help the Goose Branch withstand the forecasted return to a southwesterly push. Normal interior burning conditions were observed on Cassel Branch.
