Specific Location: Los Padres NF, Junipero Serra Peak, S of Basin Burn (2008), Lat 35° 59´ 42″, Lon 121° 23´ 50″

Nacimento Ferguson Rd has been re-opened. The fire will be turned over to the district as of 8/13 0800 hrs.

Continue mop-up and patrol in all divisions. Portions of the fire are extremely difficult to access with hose lines. The majority of resources will be focused in this area. Lar4ge demobilization this morning.

Significant increase in containment was achieved today due to exceptional effort by ground and air resources. Due to progress on direct attack, contingency line construction has been suspended.

Minimal fire activity, with isolated pockets of heat. Mop-up and patrol in all divisions.

Tied fire from Nacimiento Ferguson Rd. to Ponderosa Camp Ground. The majority of acreage increase is due to burnout operation to secure line. Additional containment line was completed but due to increase in acres containment percentage remained the same.

Ponderosa and Nacimiento Camp Grounds closed. Highway 1 open, Nacimiento - Ferguson Road, as well as the Los Burros / Willow Creek Road at Highway 1 closed to the public, open to residents.

Fort Hutter Liggett has the Sam Jones Fire burning on the base in close proximity. Aircraft from the Ponderosa Fire was used to assist the Sam Jones Fire. Central Cal Type 2 IMT (Smith) assumed command today of the fire at 0600 hrs.

Fire layed down with little movement. Fort Hunter Liggett Sams Jones Fire drift smoke was over the Ponderosa Fire most of today. Direct Attack on the W Flank – N and E Flank no action. Continue construction of indirect lines.
