Whitney — The Elkhorn 2 Fire has been problematic but significant progress is being made. Estimated containment is 06/23, if weather conditions remain favorable. Demobilization will begin around that date.

The 2008 fire season has just begun, though. Federal fire crews will be busy all summer.
